As we are now entering the Fall, we are going to want to stay away from colder delights. The fall itself brings cold and dry air, making the body work extra hard to digest the food. This is why nourishing the body with foods and drinks that will keep the Agni (digestive fire) happy and strong will benefit us the most. When our digestive system is out of balance, the mind tends to go in the same direction. Already entering a time of shedding the old, transformation, and Air like thinking, we can feel very ungrounded and anxious at times, poor digestion will only amplify those symptoms. When we eat grounding, warm, nourishing foods during this time, it’s like putting a nice warm blanket onto that fire, giving it support during the cold seasons. Supplying the body and mind back into balance is a key to staying in harmony during this time of the year so allowing ourselves to enjoy a treat to end the summer with is a gift from nature, a gift from ourselves
This smoothie includes some warming spices and of course my favorite drinking chocolate, Cacoco. Below you can find the recipe. Cheers to the new season and all that it has to offer.
Chocolate Maca Smoothie
1 frozen bananna
1 tbsp Imlak'esh Organics maca
3 roughly Tablespoon size CACOCO Extra Dark Ice Cubes (see recipe below)
1 cup almond milk
2 tsp Cinnamon
1 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp ginger
Blend all ingredients together until smooth
Top with Living Intentions Blueberry Blast activated superfood cereal
CACOCO Extra Dark Ice Cubes
Blend until smooth1 part hot water to 1 part CACOCO extra dark
Pour into ice cube trays and let set for 4-6 hours
Pop out of trays and nibble for a cool chocolatey treat or add to smoothies for a creamy cacao boost
